Did you get my message about fishing Willowbank ?

Its near Lincoln and is a beauty venue for catching cats through the day

Sounds like a good plan ...... where abouts are you from - can't see it on your page

I did'nt know the katmandoo gear was pre-glugged (shows what I know)
We will be able to chop and change tactics at the time - I will just take loads of various baits as we won't know exactly what they are feeding on (apart from boilies)

I live in High Wycombe (between London and Oxford). Think it's about 240 miles from Hartlepool. Don't know if there is anything halfway or where halfway would be?!

It looks like we are both in the exact same boat as I have only caught 3 cats as well (and by the looks of it, smaller than yours).
Looking at the Celtic lakes web site it seems most cats come out to boilies and pellets, so I will probably get some katmandoo pellets and glug them until the competition (they should be humming by then), I will also get a load of halibut pellets of various sizes and a selection of frozen deads. Hopefully the livebait will be easy enough to catch (roach, skimmers etc) as thats my favourite method. Lobs should work there but the carp, tench, bream etc will also go for them. I personally have never tried leeches but if we cover all options we should get something (fingers crossed)

From memory, I believe that Kev is going to supply some hookbaits at the time. They are usually well glugged when you buy them but always worth topping up. I have never used livebaits for cats as they are not allowed at Claydon where I have been fishing but it is something that I want to give a go. That's if we can catch some!!!
It may be worth considering some smaller baits too. By the sounds of it the cats come out by accident on carpers baits, so it may be worth considering.
I have never fished with leeches either but it may be worth getting some as another option (will have to look at the bank balance nearer the time).
Was thinking it would be good to meet up for a session before the comp, but am aware that it is a long way for both of us. Maybe we could find a venue half way. What do you think?

    Ahh excellent news

I know there is ages to go for the competition but I just wanted to get the ball rolling by asking a couple of questions ........
what baits are you looking towards - I know 1 rod out of our combined 4 must had some katmandoo pellets on (I was going to suggest we each have a 24hr stint using them - unless you want to use them all the time ?).
Personally I love using livebait but I only have one problem - catching them - how good are you at catching livebaits ?
But I will also be taking some deads (ready to inject with oils) and halibuts etc.

To be honest I am new to the catfishing scene this year and so far I have caught my largest cat on Katmandoo pellet. I have had two smaller cats on worms.
I am open to options and hope to use this experience to learn more and increase my knowledge. As for catching lives, I'm more than happy sat with a small float, so will be more than happy to give it a go.
Would worms and possibly leeches be worth considering?
